The third leader at the gold cup is from Sweden. A few of those at the top maintained their consistency after the tricky wind caused a few more high scores. Nicholas Heiner, from The Netherlands, won the first race of the day and Ed Wright, from Britain, was second. The second race was won by Kula. The fleet seemed overly eager to get the racing underway as the races were started under black flag. Most of the fleet headed out towards the eastern shoreline to get the best wind in Race 5. The top mark was taken by Heiner, from Croatia, and others. In his first Finn Gold Cup, Heiner pulled away and was never really in danger of winning. The battle behind him was intense. Jake Lilley, from Australia, came through for second ahead of the British pair of Henry Wetherell and Wright. Oscar was raised at the first top mark as the wind returned after it had dropped. The day was dry despite some heavy cloud coming down the lake. Kula pulled ahead as the wind died from around 6 knots to around 7 knots. He maintained his lead to the finish, but was pushed hard by Lilley and Muhonen on the second downwind. Heiner came through in the last stages of the downwind to take third.
